Olga Hankin

parteira e ativista sionista

Olga Hankin was a Russian-Jewish activist and midwife, born in 1852, who dedicated her life to promoting feminist and Zionist causes. As a professional midwife, she developed a strong foundation in her field, but her true passion lay in activism. Hankin's work extended beyond her profession, as she became a key figure in the Zionist movement, particularly in the acquisition of land in Ottoman Palestine and Mandatory Palestine.

Together with her husband, Yehoshua Hankin, Olga played a crucial role in facilitating major land purchases for the Zionist Organization. While her husband gained recognition as a prominent "redeemer of lands," Olga's contributions were equally instrumental in this endeavor. Through her collaborative efforts with Yehoshua, Olga Hankin left a lasting impact on the Zionist movement, leaving behind a legacy that would be remembered until her passing in 1942.
