Vladimir Malaniuk

Ukrainian chess grandmaster (1957–2017)

Vladimir Malaniuk was a prominent Ukrainian chess player who held the title of grandmaster. Throughout his career, he achieved notable success, including winning the Ukrainian championship on three occasions. His skills also earned him a spot in the FIDE World Chess Championship in 1998, where he competed against top players from around the globe.

Malaniuk's accomplishments extended to team events, where he represented Ukraine in several international competitions. He participated in three Chess Olympiads, two World Team Chess Championships, and the 1997 European Team Chess Championship. During the 1996 and 1998 Chess Olympiads, Malaniuk contributed to Ukraine's team silver and bronze medals, respectively. Additionally, he won a team silver medal and an individual gold medal at the 1993 World Team Championship, showcasing his exceptional talent and dedication to the sport.
