Käthe Leichter

Austrian writer (1895–1942)

Käthe Leichter was a prominent Austrian figure, born in 1895, who made significant contributions to the field of economics. Her work extended beyond academia, as she was also an accomplished writer, journalist, and politician. Leichter's commitment to social causes led her to become a member of the Social Democratic Party of Austria, as well as the Viennese Labour Chamber, where she actively advocated for women's rights.

Leichter's life was tragically cut short during the Nazi regime. She was detained in the Ravensbrück concentration camp, and ultimately killed by gas at the Bernburg Euthanasia Centre in 1942. Through her work and activism, Leichter left a lasting legacy in the fields of economics and women's rights, serving as a testament to her dedication and perseverance in the face of adversity. Despite her untimely death, her contributions continue to be recognized and remembered as an important part of Austrian history.
