Luis Favre

Luis Favre, the pseudonym of Felipe Belisario Wermus, is a Brazilian journalist and political activist born in Argentina in 1949. His early involvement in politics began with his membership in the Politica Obrera party, after which he relocated to France and joined the Internationalist Communist Organisation (ICO). During his time with the ICO, Favre worked primarily in the international department, but he later moved to Brazil and became a vocal critic of Pierre Lambert, a key figure in the Fourth International tendency within the ICO.

Favre's political career has been marked by his involvement with various parties and organizations. He left the ICO to join the Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT), where he has been an aide to the National Secretariat of International Relations since 1986, representing the party at numerous international events. Additionally, Favre is known for his personal connection to former congresswoman and mayor of São Paulo, Marta Smith de Vasconcelos Suplicy, whom he married. He is also associated with a group of former Trotskyists within the PT, known as the "Libelu," which supports the wing of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Through his work and affiliations, Favre has established himself as a prominent figure in Brazilian politics and activism.
